Et convocatis duodecim discipulis suis, dedit illis potestatem spirituum immundorum, ut ejicerent eos, et curarent omnem languorem, et omnem infirmitatem.
And having called his twelve disciples together, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of diseases, and all manner of infirmities.
Et convoca duodecime discipulos suo, da ad illos potestate de spiritus de immundos, ut eiice illos, et cura omni languore, et omni infirmitate.
Duodecim autem Apostolorum nomina sunt hæc. Primus, Simon, qui dicitur Petrus: et Andreas frater ejus,
And the names of the twelve Apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,
Duodecime autem de Apostolos nomines es hoc. Primo, Simone, qui dic Petro: et Andrease fratre de illo,
Jacobus Zebedæi, et Joannes frater ejus, Philippus, et Bartholomæus, Thomas, et Matthæus publicanus, Jacobus Alphæi, et Thaddæus,
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,
Iacobo de Zebedaeo, et Ioanne fratre de illo, Philippo, et Bartholomaeo, Thomase, et Matthaeo publicano, Iacobo de Alphaeo, et Thaddaeo,
Simon Chananæus, et Judas Iscariotes, qui et tradidit eum.
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
Simone Chananaeo, et Iudase Iscariote, qui et trade illo.
Hos duodecim misit Jesus, præcipiens eis, dicens: In viam gentium ne abieritis, et in civitates Samaritanorum ne intraveritis:
These twelve Jesus sent: commanding them, saying: Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the city of the Samaritans enter ye not.
Iesu mitte hoc duodecime, praecipie ad illos, dicente: in via de gentes ne i ab, et in civitates de Samaritanis ne intra:
sed potius ite ad oves quæ perierunt domus Israël.
But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Sed potius i ad oves que peri domo Israële.
Euntes autem prædicate, dicentes: Quia appropinquavit regnum cælorum.
And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Iente autem praedica, dicente: quia regno de caelos appropinqua.
Infirmos curate, mortuos suscitate, leprosos mundate, dæmones ejicite: gratis accepistis, gratis date.
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely have you received, freely give.
Infirmiori cura, mortuo suscita, leproso munda, daemones eiice: gratis accipe, gratis da.
Nolite possidere aurum, neque argentum, neque pecuniam in zonis vestris:
Do not possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your purses:
Ne vol posside auro, neque argento, neque pecunia in zonas vestro:
non peram in via, neque duas tunicas, neque calceamenta, neque virgam: dignus enim est operarius cibo suo.
Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat.
Non pera in via, neque duo tunica, neque calceamentos, neque virga: digna nam es operario cibo suo.
In quamcumque autem civitatem aut castellum intraveritis, interrogate, quis in ea dignus sit: et ibi manete donec exeatis.
And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence.
In et quamcum autem civitate aut castello intra, interroga, qui in illa digna es: et ibi mane usque que exi.
Intrantes autem in domum, salutate eam, dicentes: Pax huic domui.
And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house.
Intrantes autem in domo, saluta illa, dicente: pace ad hoc ad domo.
Et siquidem fuerit domus illa digna, veniet pax vestra super eam: si autem non fuerit digna, pax vestra revertetur ad vos.
And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.
Et siquidem es domo illa digna, pace vestro veni super illa: si autem non es digna, pace vestro reverte ad vos.
Et quicumque non receperit vos, neque audierit sermones vestros: exeuntes foras de domo, vel civitate, excutite pulverem de pedibus vestris.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet.
Et omni non recipe vos, neque audi sermones vestro: exi foras de domo, vel civitate, excute pulvere de pedes vestro.
Amen dico vobis: Tolerabilius erit terræ Sodomorum et Gomorrhæorum in die judicii, quam illi civitati.
Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Amen dic ad vos: tolerabiliter es de terra de Sodomas et de Gomorraeis in die de iudicio, quam ad illo ad civitate.
Ecce ego mitto vos sicut oves in medio luporum. Estote ergo prudentes sicut serpentes, et simplices sicut columbæ.
Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves.
Ecce me mitte vos sicut oves in medio de lupos. Es ergo prudente sicut serpentes, et simplici sicut columbas.
Cavete autem ab hominibus. Tradent enim vos in conciliis, et in synagogis suis flagellabunt vos:
But beware of men. For they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.
Cave autem ab homines. Trade nam vos in concilios, et in synagogas suo flagella vos:
et ad præsides, et ad reges ducemini propter me in testimonium illis, et gentibus.
And you shall be brought before governors, and before kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles:
Et ad praesides, et ad reges duc propter me in testimonio ad illos, et ad gentes.
Cum autem tradent vos, nolite cogitare quomodo, aut quid loquamini: dabitur enim vobis in illa hora, quid loquamini:
But when they shall deliver you up, take no thought how or what to speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak:
Cum autem trade vos, ne vol cogita quomodo, aut quid loque: da nam ad vos in illa hora, quid loque:
non enim vos estis qui loquimini, sed Spiritus Patris vestri, qui loquitur in vobis.
For it is not you that speak, but the spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.
Non nam vos es qui loque, sed Spiritu de Patre vestro, qui loque in vos.
Tradet autem frater fratrem in mortem, et pater filium: et insurgent filii in parentes, et morte eos afficient:
The brother also shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the son; and the children shall rise up against their parents, and shall put them to death.
Fratre autem trade fratre in morte, et patre filio: et filios insurge in parentes, et morte illos afficie:
et eritis odio omnibus propter nomen meum: qui autem perseveraverit usque in finem, hic salvus erit.
And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.
Et es ad odio ad omni propter nomine meo: qui autem persevera usque in fine, hoc salva es.
Cum autem persequentur vos in civitate ista, fugite in aliam. Amen dico vobis, non consummabitis civitates Israël, donec veniat Filius hominis.
And when they shall persecute you in this city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.
Cum autem perseque vos in civitate isto, fuge in alio. Amen dic ad vos, non consumma civitates Israële, usque que Filio de homine que veni.
Non est discipulus super magistrum, nec servus super dominum suum:
The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above his lord.
Non es discipulo super magistro, nec servo super domino suo:
sufficit discipulo ut sit sicut magister ejus, et servo, sicut dominus ejus. Si patremfamilias Beelzebub vocaverunt, quanto magis domesticos ejus?
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the good man of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?
Suffice ad discipulo ut es sicut magistro de illo, et ad servo, sicut domino de illo. Si Beelzebube voca paterfamiliase, quanto magis domestici de illo?
Ne ergo timueritis eos. Nihil enim est opertum, quod non revelabitur: et occultum, quod non scietur.
Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.
Ne ergo time illos. Nihil nam es operi, quod non revela: et occulto, quod non sci.
Quod dico vobis in tenebris, dicite in lumine: et quod in aure auditis, prædicate super tecta.
That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.
Quod dic ad vos in tenebras, dic in lumine: et quod in aure audi, praedica super tectos.
Et nolite timere eos qui occidunt corpus, animam autem non possunt occidere: sed potius timete eum, qui potest et animam et corpus perdere in gehennam.
And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Et ne vol time illos qui occide corpore, anima autem non pote occide: sed potius time illo, qui pote et anima et corpore perde in gehenna.
Nonne duo passeres asse veneunt? et unus ex illis non cadet super terram sine Patre vestro.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father.
Nonne duo passo asse vene? Et uno ex illos non cade super terra sine Patre vestro.
Vestri autem capilli capitis omnes numerati sunt.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Vestro autem capillos de capite omni numera es.
Nolite ergo timere: multis passeribus meliores estis vos.
Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows.
Ne vol ergo time: multo passos bono es vos.
Omnis ergo qui confitebitur me coram hominibus, confitebor et ego eum coram Patre meo, qui in cælis est.
Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.
Omni ergo qui confite me coram homines, et me confite illo coram Patre meo, qui in caelos es.
Qui autem negaverit me coram hominibus, negabo et ego eum coram Patre meo, qui in cælis est.
But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.
Qui autem nega me coram homines, et me nega illo coram Patre meo, qui in caelos es.
Nolite arbitrari quia pacem venerim mittere in terram: non veni pacem mittere, sed gladium:
Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
Ne vol arbitra quia pace veni mitte in terra: non veni pace mitte, sed gladio:
veni enim separare hominem adversus patrem suum, et filiam adversus matrem suam, et nurum adversus socrum suam:
For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Veni nam separa homine contra patre suo, et filia contra matre suo, et nuru contra socru suo:
et inimici hominis, domestici ejus.
And a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.
Et inimicos de homine, domesticis de illo.
Qui amat patrem aut matrem plus quam me, non est me dignus: et qui amat filium aut filiam super me, non est me dignus.
He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
Qui ama patre aut matre plus quam me, non es me digna: et qui ama filio aut filia super me, non es me digna.
Et qui non accipit crucem suam, et sequitur me, non est me dignus.
And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.
Et qui non accipe cruce suo, et seque me, non es me digna.
Qui invenit animam suam, perdet illam: et qui perdiderit animam suam propter me, inveniet eam.
He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.
Qui inveni anima suo, perde illa: et qui perde anima suo propter me, inveni illa.
Qui recipit vos, me recipit: et qui me recipit, recipit eum qui me misit.
He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
Qui recipe vos, me recipe: et qui recipe me, recipe illo qui mitte me.
Qui recipit prophetam in nomine prophetæ, mercedem prophetæ accipiet: et qui recipit justum in nomine justi, mercedem justi accipiet.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet: and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man.
Qui recipe propheta in nomine de propheta, mercede de propheta accipe: et qui recipe iusto in nomine iusto, mercede iusto accipe.
Et quicumque potum dederit uni ex minimis istis calicem aquæ frigidæ tantum in nomine discipuli: amen dico vobis, non perdet mercedem suam.
And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you he shall not lose his reward.
Et omni potu da ad uno ex minimo isto calice de aqua frigido tanto in nomine de discipulo: amen dic ad vos, non perde mercede suo.
