Loquentibus autem illis ad populum, supervenerunt sacerdotes, et magistratus templi, et sadducæi,

And as they were speaking to the people the priests and the officer of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

Loque autem ad illos ad populo, superveni sacerdotes, et magistratus de templo, et sadducaeos,

dolentes quod docerent populum, et annuntiarent in Jesu resurrectionem ex mortuis:

Being grieved that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead:

Dole quod doce populo, et annuntia in Iesu resurrectione ex mortuo:

et injecerunt in eos manus, et posuerunt eos in custodiam in crastinum: erat enim jam vespera.

And they laid hands upon them and put them in hold till the next day: for it was now evening.

Et inicie in illos manus, et pone illos in custodia in crastino: es nam jam vespera.

Multi autem eorum qui audierant verbum, crediderunt: et factus est numerus virorum quinque millia.

But many of them who had heard the word believed: and the number of the men was made five thousand.

Multo autem de illos qui audi verbo, crede: et facto es numero de viros quinque mile.

Factum est autem in crastinum, ut congregarentur principes eorum, et seniores, et scribæ, in Jerusalem:

And it came to pass on the morrow, that their princes and ancients and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.

Facto es autem in crastino, ut congrega principes de illos, et sene, et scribas, in Ierusalem:

et Annas princeps sacerdotum, et Caiphas, et Joannes, et Alexander, et quotquot erant de genere sacerdotali.

And Annas the high priest and Caiphas and John and Alexander: and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.

Et Annase principe de sacerdotes, et Caiaphase, et Ioanne, et Alexandro, et quotquot es de genere sacerdotali.

Et statuentes eos in medio, interrogabant: In qua virtute, aut in quo nomine fecistis hoc vos?

And setting them in the midst, they asked: By what power or by what name, have you done this?

Et statue illos in medio, interroga: in quo virtute, aut in quo nomine fac hoc vos?

Tunc repletus Spiritu Sancto Petrus, dixit ad eos: Principes populi, et seniores, audite:

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said to them: Ye princes of the people and ancients, hear.

Tunc reple Spiritu Sancto Petro, dic ad illos: principes de populo, et sene, audi:

si nos hodie dijudicamur in benefacto hominis infirmi, in quo iste salvus factus est,

If we this day are examined concerning the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he hath been made whole:

Si nos hodie diiudica in benefacto de homine infirmiori, in quo isto salva facto es,

notum sit omnibus vobis, et omni plebi Israël, quia in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi Nazareni, quem vos crucifixistis, quem Deus suscitavit a mortuis, in hoc iste astat coram vobis sanus.

Be it known to you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him, this man standeth here before you, whole.

Noto es ad omni ad vos, et omni ad plebe Israële, quia in nomine de Domino nostro de Iesu de Christo de Nazareno, vos crucifige quem, Deo suscita quem ab mortuo, in hoc isto asta coram vos sana.

Hic est lapis qui reprobatus est a vobis ædificantibus, qui factus est in caput anguli:

This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Hoc es lapide qui reproba es ab vos aedifica, qui facto es in capite de angulo:

et non est in alio aliquo salus. Nec enim aliud nomen est sub cælo datum hominibus, in quo oporteat nos salvos fieri.

Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.

Et non salute in alio aliquo es. Nec nam alio nomine es sub caelo dato ad homines, in quo debe nos salva fieri.

Videntes autem Petri constantiam, et Joannis, comperto quod homines essent sine litteris, et idiotæ, admirabantur, et cognoscebant eos quoniam cum Jesu fuerant:

Now seeing the constancy of Peter and of John, understanding that they were illiterate and ignorant men, they wondered: and they knew them that they had been with Jesus.

Vide autem de Petro constantia, et de Ioanne, comperie quod homines es sine litteras, et idiotas, admiror, et cognosce illos quia cum Iesu es:

hominem quoque videntes stantem cum eis, qui curatus fuerat, nihil poterant contradicere.

Seeing the man also who had been healed, standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

Homine etiam vide sta cum illos, qui cura es, nihil pote contradice.

Jusserunt autem eos foras extra concilium secedere: et conferebant ad invicem,

But they commanded them to go aside out of the council: and they conferred among themselves,

Iube autem illos foras extra concilio secede: et confer ad invicem,

dicentes: Quid faciemus hominibus istis? quoniam quidem notum signum factum est per eos omnibus habitantibus Jerusalem: manifestum est, et non possumus negare.

Saying: What shall we do to these men? For indeed a miracle hath been done by them, known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. It is manifest: and we cannot deny it.

Dicente: quid fac ad homines isto? Quia quidem noto signo facto es per illos ad omni habita Ierusalem: manifesto es, et non pote nega.

Sed ne amplius divulgetur in populum, comminemur eis ne ultra loquantur in nomine hoc ulli hominum.

But that it may be no farther spread among the people, let us threaten them that they speak no more in this name to any man.

Sed ne ample divulga in populo, comminor ad illos ne ultra loque in nomine hoc ullo de homines.

Et vocantes eos, denuntiaverunt ne omnino loquerentur neque docerent in nomine Jesu.

And calling them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus.

Et voca illos, denuntia ne omnino loque neque doce in nomine de Iesu.

Petrus vero et Joannes respondentes, dixerunt ad eos: Si justum est in conspectu Dei vos potius audire quam Deum, judicate.

But Peter and John answering, said to them: If it be just, in the sight of God, to hear you rather than God, judge ye.

Petro vero et Ioanne responde, dic ad illos: si iusto es in conspectu de Deo vos potius audire quam Deo, iudica.

Non enim possumus quæ vidimus et audivimus non loqui.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Non nam pote que vide et audi non loque.

At illi comminantes dimiserunt eos, non invenientes quomodo punirent eos propter populum: quia omnes clarificabant id quod factum fuerat in eo quod acciderat.

But they, threatening, sent them away, not finding how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified what had been done, in that which had come to pass.

Sed illo comminor dimitte illos, non inveni quomodo punie illos propter populo: quia omni clarifica id quod facto es in eo quod accide.

Annorum enim erat amplius quadraginta homo, in quo factum fuerat signum istud sanitatis.

For the man was above forty years old, in whom that miraculous cure had been wrought.

De annos nam es ample quadraginta homine, in quo facto es signo isto de sanitate.

Dimissi autem venerunt ad suos, et annuntiaverunt eis quanta ad eos principes sacerdotum et seniores dixissent.

And being let go, they came to their own company and related all that the chief priests and ancients had said to them.

Dimitte autem veni ad suo, et annuntia ad illos principes ad illos de sacerdotes et sene dic quanto.

Qui cum audissent, unanimiter levaverunt vocem ad Deum, et dixerunt: Domine, tu es qui fecisti cælum et terram, mare et omnia quæ in eis sunt:

Who having heard it, with one accord lifted up their voice to God and said: Lord, thou art he that didst make heaven and earth, the sea and all things that are in them.

Qui cum audi, unanimiter leva voce ad Deo, et domino: dic, te es qui fac caelo et terra, mari et omni que in illos es:

qui Spiritu Sancto per os patris nostri David pueri tui dixisti: Quare fremuerunt gentes, et populi meditati sunt inania?

Who, by the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of our father David, thy servant, hast said: Why did the Gentiles rage: and the people meditate vain things?

Qui Spiritu Sancto per ore de patre nostro Davide de puero tuo dic: quare gentes freme, et populos meditor es inane?

Astiterunt reges terræ, et principes convenerunt in unum adversus Dominum, et adversus Christum ejus.

The kings of the earth stood up: and the princes assembled together against the Lord and his Christ.

Reges de terra assiste, et principes conveni in uno contra Domino, et contra Christo de illo.

Convenerunt enim vere in civitate ista adversus sanctum puerum tuum Jesum, quem unxisti, Herodes et Pontius Pilatus, cum gentibus et populis Israël,

For of a truth there assembled together in this city against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,

Conveni nam vere in civitate isto contra sancto puero tuo Iesu, Herode et, Pontio Pilato ung(u)a quem, cum gentes et populos Israële,

facere quæ manus tua et consilium tuum decreverunt fieri.

To do what thy hand and thy counsel decreed to be done.

Facere que manus tuo et consilio tuo decerne fieri.

Et nunc, Domine, respice in minas eorum, et da servis tuis cum omni fiducia loqui verbum tuum,

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants that with all confidence they may speak thy word,

Et nunc, Domino, respice in minas de illos, et da ad servos tuo cum omni fiducia loque verbo tuo,

in eo quod manum tuam extendas ad sanitates, et signa, et prodigia fieri per nomen sancti filii tui Jesu.

By stretching forth thy hand to cures and signs and wonders, to be done by the name of thy holy Son, Jesus.

In eo quod manu tuo extende ad sanitates, et signos, et prodigios fieri per nomine sancto de filio tuo de Iesu.

Et cum orassent, motus est locus in quo erant congregati: et repleti sunt omnes Spiritu Sancto, et loquebantur verbum Dei cum fiducia.

And when they had prayed, the place was moved wherein they were assembled: and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost: and they spoke the word of God with confidence.

Et cum ora, move es loco in quo es congrega: et reple es omni Spiritu Sancto, et loque verbo de Deo cum fiducia.

Multitudinis autem credentium erat cor unum et anima una: nec quisquam eorum quæ possidebat, aliquid suum esse dicebat, sed erant illis omnia communia.

And the multitude of believers had but one heart and one soul. Neither did any one say that aught of the things which he possessed was his own: but all things were common unto them.

De multitudine autem crede es corde uno et anima uno: nec ullo de illos que posside, aliquo suo es dic, sed es ad illos omni communi.

Et virtute magna reddebant Apostoli testimonium resurrectionis Jesu Christi Domini nostri: et gratia magna erat in omnibus illis.

And with great power did the Apostles give testimony of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord: and great grace was in them all.

Et virtute magna Apostolos redde testimonio de resurrectione de Iesu de Christo de Domino nostro: et gratia magna es in omni illos.

Neque enim quisquam egens erat inter illos. Quotquot enim possessores agrorum aut domorum erant, vendentes afferebant pretia eorum quæ vendebant,

For neither was there any one needy among them. For as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the price of the things they sold,

Neque nam ullo ege es inter illos. Quotquot nam possessores de agros aut de domos es, vende ad-fer pretios de illos que vende,

et ponebant ante pedes Apostolorum. Dividebatur autem singulis prout cuique opus erat.

And laid it down before the feet of the apostles. And distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.

Et pone ante pedes de Apostolos. Divide autem ad singulo prout et ad que opere es.

Joseph autem, qui cognominatus est Barnabas ab Apostolis (quod est interpretatum, Filius consolationis), Levites, Cyprius genere,

And Joseph, who, by the apostles, was surnamed Barnabas (which is, by interpretation, The son of consolation), a Levite, a Cyprian born,

Ioseph autem, qui cognomina es Barnaba ab Apostolos (quod es interpretor, Filio de consolatione), Levite, Cyprio genere,

cum haberet agrum, vendidit eum, et attulit pretium, et posuit ante pedes Apostolorum.

Having land, sold it and brought the price and laid it at the feet of the Apostles.

Cum habe agro, vende illo, et ad-fer pretio, et pone ante pedes de Apostolos.
