Et cum complerentur dies Pentecostes, erant omnes pariter in eodem loco:

And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place:

Et cum dies comple Pentecostes, es omni pariter in idem loco:

et factus est repente de cælo sonus, tamquam advenientis spiritus vehementis, et replevit totam domum ubi erant sedentes.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming: and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Et facto es repente de caelo sono, sicut advenie de spiritu vehementi, et reple toto domo ubi es sede.

Et apparuerunt illis dispertitæ linguæ tamquam ignis, seditque supra singulos eorum:

And there appeared to them parted tongues, as it were of fire: and it sat upon every one of them.

Et dispertior ad illos linguas sicut igni appare, et sede supra singulo de illos:

et repleti sunt omnes Spiritu Sancto, et cœperunt loqui variis linguis, prout Spiritus Sanctus dabat eloqui illis.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost: and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.

Et reple es omni Spiritu Sancto, et incipe loque varia linguas, prout Spiritu Sancto da eloquor ad illos.

Erant autem in Jerusalem habitantes Judæi, viri religiosi ex omni natione quæ sub cælo est.

Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Es autem in Ierusalem habita Iudaeos, viros religioso ex omni natione que sub caelo es.

Facta autem hac voce, convenit multitudo, et mente confusa est, quoniam audiebat unusquisque lingua sua illos loquentes.

And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue.

Facto autem hoc voce, multitudine conveni, et mente confunde es, quia audi et unusquis lingua suo illos loque.

Stupebant autem omnes, et mirabantur, dicentes: Nonne ecce omnes isti qui loquuntur, Galilæi sunt?

And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these that speak Galilean?

Omni autem stupe, et miror, dicente: nonne ecce omni isto qui loque, Galilaeos es?

et quomodo nos audivimus unusquisque linguam nostram in qua nati sumus?

And how have we heard, every man our own tongue wherein we were born?

Et quomodo nos audi et unusquis lingua nostro in quo nato es?

Parthi, et Medi, et Ælamitæ, et qui habitant Mespotamiam, Judæam, et Cappadociam, Pontum, et Asiam,

Parthians and Medes and Elamites and inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

Parthos, et Medios, et Aelamitas, et qui habita Mespotamia, Iudaea, et Cappadocia, Ponto, et Asia,

Phrygiam, et Pamphyliam, Ægyptum, et partes Libyæ quæ est circa Cyrenen: et advenæ Romani,

Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome,

Phrygia, et Pamphylia, Aegypto, et partes de Libya que es circa Cyreneo: et advenas Romano,

Judæi quoque, et Proselyti, Cretes, et Arabes: audivimus eos loquentes nostris linguis magnalia Dei.

Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.

Iudaeos etiam, et Proselytos, Cres, et Arabes: audi illos loque nostro linguas magnalias de Deo.

Stupebant autem omnes, et mirabantur ad invicem, dicentes: Quidnam vult hoc esse?

And they were all astonished, and wondered, saying one to another: What meaneth this?

Omni autem stupe, et miror ad invicem, dicente: quisname vol hoc es?

Alii autem irridentes dicebant: Quia musto pleni sunt isti.

But others mocking, said: These men are full of new wine.

Alio autem irride dic: quia musto plena es isto.

Stans autem Petrus cum undecim, levavit vocem suam, et locutus est eis: Viri Judæi, et qui habitatis Jerusalem universi, hoc vobis notum sit, et auribus percipite verba mea.

But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: Ye men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you and with your ears receive my words.

Stante autem Petro cum undecime, leva voce suo, et locuto es ad illos: viros Iudaeos, et qui habita Ierusalem universa, hoc ad vos noto es, et aures percipe verbos meo.

Non enim, sicut vos æstimatis, hi ebrii sunt, cum sit hora diei tertia:

For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day:

Non nam, sicut vos aestima, hoc ebrio es, cum es hora de die tertio:

sed hoc est quod dictum est per prophetam Joël:

But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel:

Sed hoc es quod dicto es per propheta Ioële:

Et erit in novissimis diebus, dicit Dominus, effundam de Spiritu meo super omnem carnem: et prophetabunt filii vestri et filiæ vestræ, et juvenes vestri visiones videbunt, et seniores vestri somnia somniabunt.

And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord), I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy: and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Et es in novissimo dies, Domino dic, effunde de Spiritu meo super omni carne: et filios vestro et filias vestro propheta, et iuvene vestro vide visiones, et sene vestro somnia somnios.

Et quidem super servos meos, et super ancillas meas, in diebus illis effundam de Spiritu meo, et prophetabunt:

And upon my servants indeed and upon my handmaids will I pour out in those days of my spirit: and they shall prophesy.

Et quidem super servos meo, et super ancillas meo, in dies ad illos effunde de Spiritu meo, et propheta:

et dabo prodigia in cælo sursum, et signa in terra deorsum, sanguinem, et ignem, et vaporem fumi:

And I will shew wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath: blood and fire, and vapour of smoke.

Et da prodigios in caelo sursum, et signos in terra deorsum, sanguine, et igni, et vapore de fumo:

sol convertetur in tenebras, et luna in sanguinem, antequam veniat dies Domini magnus et manifestus.

The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord to come.

Sole converte in tenebras, et luna in sanguine, antequam die de Domino magna et manifesto que veni.

Et erit: omnis quicumque invocaverit nomen Domini, salvus erit.

And it shalt come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Et es: omni omni invoca nomine de Domino, salva es.

Viri Israëlitæ, audite verba hæc: Jesum Nazarenum, virum approbatum a Deo in vobis, virtutibus, et prodigiis, et signis, quæ fecit Deus per illum in medio vestri, sicut et vos scitis:

Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:

Viros Israëlito, audi verbos hoc: iesu Nazareno, viro approba ab Deo in vos, virtutes, et prodigios, et signos, Deo fac que per illo in medio vestro, sicut et vos sci:

hunc, definito consilio et præscientia Dei traditum, per manus iniquorum affligentes interemistis:

This same being delivered up, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.

Hoc, definitus consilio et praescientia de Deo trade, per manus iniquo afflige interime:

quem Deus suscitavit, solutis doloribus inferni, juxta quod impossibile erat teneri illum ab eo.

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that he should be holden by it.

Deo suscita quem, solve dolores de inferno, juxta quod impossibile es tene illo ab eo.

David enim dicit in eum: Providebam Dominum in conspectu meo semper: quoniam a dextris est mihi, ne commovear:

For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved.

Davide nam dic in illo: provide Domino in conspectu meo semper: quia ab dextro es ad me, ne commove:

propter hoc lætatum est cor meum, et exsultavit lingua mea, insuper et caro mea requiescet in spe:

For this my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Propter hoc laetor es corde meo, et lingua meo exsulta, insuper et carne meo requiesce in spe:

quoniam non derelinques animam meam in inferno, nec dabis sanctum tuum videre corruptionem.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell: nor suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.

Quia non derelinque anima meo in inferno, nec da sancto tuo videre corruptione.

Notas mihi fecisti vias vitæ: et replebis me jucunditate cum facie tua.

Thou hast made known to me the ways of life: thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

Noto ad me fac vias de vita: et reple me iucunditate cum facie tuo.

Viri fratres, liceat audenter dicere ad vos de patriarcha David, quoniam defunctus est, et sepultus: et sepulchrum ejus est apud nos usque in hodiernum diem.

Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David: that he died and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present say.

Viros fratres, lice audenter dicere ad vos de patriarcha Davide, quia defungor es, et sepeli: et sepulchro de illo es apud nos usque in hodierna die.

Propheta igitur cum esset, et sciret quia jurejurando jurasset illi Deus de fructu lumbi ejus sedere super sedem ejus:

Whereas therefore he was a prophet and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne.

Propheta ergo cum es, et sci quia iureiura Deo ad illo iura de fructu de lumbo de illo sede super sede de illo:

providens locutus est de resurrectione Christi, quia neque derelictus est in inferno, neque caro ejus vidit corruptionem.

Foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of Christ. For neither was he left in hell: neither did his flesh see corruption.

Provide locuto es de resurrectione de Christo, quia neque derelinque es in inferno, neque carne de illo vide corruptione.

Hunc Jesum resuscitavit Deus, cujus omnes nos testes sumus.

This Jesus hath God raised again, whereof all we are witnesses.

Hoc Iesu resuscita Deo, de que omni nos testes es.

Dextera igitur Dei exaltatus, et promissione Spiritus Sancti accepta a Patre, effudit hunc, quem vos videtis et auditis.

Being exalted therefore by the right hand of God and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath poured forth this which you see and hear.

Dextera ergo de Deo exalta, et promissione de Spiritu Sancto accipe ab Patre, effunde hoc, vos vide quem et audi.

Non enim David ascendit in cælum: dixit autem ipse: Dixit Dominus Domino meo: Sede a dextris meis,

For David ascended not into heaven; but he himself said: The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou on my right hand,

Non nam Davide ascende in caelo: ipso autem dic: Domino dic ad Domino meo: sede ab dextro meo,

donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.

Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

Usque que pone inimicos tuo scabello de pedes tuo.

Certissime sciat ergo omnis domus Israël, quia et Dominum eum et Christum fecit Deus hunc Jesum, quem vos crucifixistis.

Therefore let all the house of Israel know most certainly that God hath made both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus, whom you have crucified.

Certe omni ergo domo Israële sci, quia et Domino illo et Christo fac Deo hoc Iesu, vos crucifige quem.

His autem auditis, compuncti sunt corde, et dixerunt ad Petrum et ad reliquos Apostolos: Quid faciemus, viri fratres?

Now when they had heard these things, they had compunction in their heart and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles: What shall we do, men and brethren?

Ad hoc autem audi, compunge es corde, et dic ad Petro et ad reliqua Apostolos: quid fac, viros fratres?

Petrus vero ad illos: Pœnitentiam, inquit, agite, et baptizetur unusquisque vestrum in nomine Jesu Christi in remissionem peccatorum vestrorum: et accipietis donum Spiritus Sancti.

But Peter said to them: Do penance: and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Petro vero ad illos: poenitentia, dic, age, et baptiza et unusquis vestro in nomine de Iesu de Christo in remissione de peccatos vestro: et accipe dono de Spiritu Sancto.

Vobis enim est repromissio, et filiis vestris, et omnibus qui longe sunt, quoscumque advocaverit Dominus Deus noster.

For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call.

Ad vos nam repromissione es, et ad filios vestro, et ad omni qui longe es, et quoscum Domino Deo nostro advoca.

Aliis etiam verbis plurimis testificatus est, et exhortabatur eos, dicens: Salvamini a generatione ista prava.

And with very many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation.

Alio etiam verbos multo testificor es, et exhorta illos, dicente: de salvamini ab generatione isto prava.

Qui ergo receperunt sermonem ejus, baptizati sunt: et appositæ sunt in die illa animæ circiter tria millia.

They therefore that received his word were baptized: and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.

Qui ergo recipe sermone de illo, baptiza es: et appone es in die illa animas circa tre mile.

Erant autem perseverantes in doctrina Apostolorum, et communicatione fractionis panis, et orationibus.

And they were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles and in the communication of the breaking of bread and in prayers.

Es autem persevera in doctrina de Apostolos, et communicatione de fractione de pane, et orationes.

Fiebat autem omni animæ timor: multa quoque prodigia et signa per Apostolos in Jerusalem fiebant, et metus erat magnus in universis.

And fear came upon every soul. Many wonders also and signs were done by the apostles in Jerusalem: and there was great fervor in all.

Omni autem de anima timore fi: multo etiam prodigios et signos per Apostolos in Ierusalem fi, et metu es magna in universa.

Omnes etiam qui credebant, erant pariter, et habebant omnia communia.

And all they that believed were together and had all things common.

Omni etiam qui crede, es pariter, et habe omni communi.

Possessiones et substantias vendebant, et dividebant illa omnibus, prout cuique opus erat.

Their possessions and goods they sold and divided them to all, according as every one had need.

Possessiones et substantias vende, et divide illa ad omni, prout et ad que opere es.

Quotidie quoque perdurantes unanimiter in templo, et frangentes circa domos panem, sumebant cibum cum exsultatione et simplicitate cordis,

And continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart:

Buotidie etiam perdura unanimiter in templo, et frange circa domos pane, sume cibo cum exsultatione et simplicitate de corde,

collaudantes Deum et habentes gratiam ad omnem plebem. Dominus autem augebat qui salvi fierent quotidie in idipsum.

Praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord increased daily together such as should be saved.

Collauda Deo et habe gratia ad omni plebe. Domino autem auge qui salva fi quotidie in idipso.
