Accesseruntque principes familiarum Levi ad Eleazarum sacerdotem, et Josue filium Nun, et ad duces cognationum per singulas tribus filiorum Israël:

Then the princes of the families of Levi came to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the princes of the kindreds of all the tribes of the children of Israel

Et principes de familias Levi accede ad Eleaza sacerdote, et Ioso filio Nune, et ad duces de cognationes per singulo tre de filio Israële:

locutique sunt ad eos in Silo terræ Chanaan, atque dixerunt: Dominus præcepit per manum Moysi, ut darentur nobis urbes ad habitandum, et suburbana earum ad alenda jumenta.

And they spoke to them in Silo in the land of Chanaan, and said: The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, that cities should be given us to dwell in, and their suburbs to feed our cattle.

Et loque es ad illos in Siloë de terra Chanaane, et dic: domino praecipie per manu de Moysi, ut urbes ad nos da ad habita, et suburbanas de illas ad alendo iumentos.

Dederuntque filii Israël de possessionibus suis juxta imperium Domini, civitates et suburbana earum.

And the children of Israel gave out of their possessions according to the commandment of the Lord, cities and their suburbs.

Et filios Israële da de possessiones suo juxta imperio de Domino, civitates et suburbanas de illas.

Egressaque est sors in familiam Caath filiorum Aaron sacerdotis, de tribubus Juda, et Simeon, et Benjamin, civitates tredecim:

And the lot came out for the family of Caath of the children of Aaron the priest out of the tribes of Juda, and of Simeon, and of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

Et egredior es sorte in familia Caath de filios Aarone de sacerdote, de tribus Iuda, et Symeone, et Beniamine, civitates tredecime:

et reliquis filiorum Caath, id est Levitis, qui superfuerant, de tribubus Ephraim, et Dan, et dimidia tribu Manasse, civitates decem.

And to the rest of the children of Caath, that is, to thee Levites, who remained, out of the tribes of Ephraim, and of Dan, and the half tribe of Manasses, ten cities.

Et reliqua de filios Caath, id es Levitis, qui supersum, de tribus Ephraeme, et Dano, et dimidia tribu Manasse, civitates deceme.

Porro filii Gerson egressa est sors, ut acciperent de tribubus Issachar et Aser et Nephthali, dimidiaque tribu Manasse in Basan, civitates numero tredecim.

And the lot came out to children of Gerson, that they should take of the tribes of Issachar and of Aser and of Nephtali, and of the half tribe of Manasses in Basan, thirteen cities.

Porro filios Gersone egredior es sorte, ut accipe de tribus Issachare et Asro et Nephthali, et dimidio tribu Manasse in Basan, civitates numero tredecime.

Et filiis Merari per cognationes suas de tribubus Ruben et Gad et Zabulon urbes duodecim.

And to the sons of Merari by their kindreds, of the tribes of Ruben and of Gad and of Zabulon, twelve cities.

Et ad filios Meraro per cognationes suo de tribus Rubene et Gado et Zabulone urbes duodecime.

Dederuntque filii Israël Levitis civitates et suburbana earum, sicut præcepit Dominus per manum Moysi, singulis sorte tribuentes.

And the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their suburbs, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, giving to every one by lot.

Et filios Israële da ad Levitis civitates et suburbanas de illas, sicut Domino praecipie per manu de Moysi, singulo sorte tribue.

De tribubus filiorum Juda et Simeon dedit Josue civitates, quarum ista sunt nomina,

Of the tribes of the children of Juda and of Simeon Joshua gave cities: whose names are these,

De tribus de filios Iuda et Symeone da Ioso civitates, de qui isto es nomines,

filiis Aaron per familias Caath Levitici generis (prima enim sors illis egressa est),

To the sons of Aaron, of the families of Caath of the race of Levi (for the first lot came out for them)

Ad filios Aarone per familia Caath de Levitici de genere (primo nam sorte ad illos egredior es),

Cariatharbe patris Enac, quæ vocatur Hebron, in monte Juda, et suburbana ejus per circuitum.

The city of Arbe the father of Enac, which is called Hebron, in the mountain of Juda, and the suburbs thereof round about.

Cariatharbe de patre Enace, que voca Hebrone, in monte Iuda, et suburbanas de illo per circuitu.

Agros vero et villas ejus dederat Caleb filio Jephone ad possidendum.

But the fields and the villages thereof he had given to Caleb the son of Jephone for his possession.

Agros vero et villas de illo da Calebe ad filio de Iephone ad posside.

Dedit ergo filiis Aaron sacerdotis Hebron confugii civitatem, ac suburbana ejus: et Lobnam cum suburbanis suis:

He gave therefore to the children of Aaron the priest, Hebron a city of refuge, and the suburbs thereof, and Lebna with the suburbs thereof,

Da ergo ad filios Aarone de sacerdote Hebrone de confugio civitate, et suburbanas de illo: et Lobna cum suburbanas suo:

et Jether, et Esthemo,

And Jether and Estemo,

Et Iethro, et Esthemo,

et Holon, et Dabir,

And Holon, and Dabir,

Et Holone, et Dabire,

et Ain, et Jeta, et Bethsames, cum suburbanis suis: civitates novem de tribubus, ut dictum est, duabus.

And Ain, and Jeta, and Bethsames, with their suburbs: nine cities out of the two tribes, as hath been said.

Et Ain, et Ieta, et Bethsamite, cum suburbanas suo: civitates noveme de tribus, ut dicto es, duo.

De tribu autem filiorum Benjamin, Gabaon, et Gabæ,

And out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, Gabaon, and Gabae,

De tribu autem de filios Beniamine, Gabaone, et Gabase,

18

et Anathoth et Almon, cum suburbanis suis: civitates quatuor.

And Anathoth and Almon, with, their suburbs: four cities.

Et Anathoth et Almone, cum suburbanas suo: civitates quatuore.

Omnes simul civitates filiorum Aaron sacerdotis, tredecim, cum suburbanis suis.

All the cities together of the children of Aaron the priest, were thirteen, with their suburbs,

Omni simul civitates de filios Aarone de sacerdote, tredecime, cum suburbanas suo.

20

Reliquis vero per familias filiorum Caath Levitici generis, hæc est data possessio.

And to the rest of the families of the children of Caath of the race of Levi was given this possession.

Reliqua vero per familia de filios Caath de Levitici de genere, hoc es da possessione.

De tribu Ephraim urbes confugii, Sichem cum suburbanis suis in monte Ephraim, et Gazer

Of the tribe of Ephraim, Sichem one of the cities of refuge, with the suburbs thereof in mount Ephraim, and Gazer,

De tribu Ephraeme urbes confugio, Sicheme cum suburbanas suo in monte Ephraeme, et Gazro

et Cibsaim et Beth-horon, cum suburbanis suis, civitates quatuor.

And Cibsaim, and Beth-horon, with their suburbs, four cities.

Et Cibsae et Beth - horone, cum suburbanas suo, civitates quatuore.

De tribu quoque Dan, Eltheco et Gabathon,

And of he tribe of Dan, Eltheco and Gabathon,

De tribu etiam Dano, Eltheco et Gabathone,

24

et Ajalon et Gethremmon, cum suburbanis suis, civitates quatuor.

And Aialon and Gethremmon, with their suburbs, four cities.

Et Aialone et Gethremmone, cum suburbanas suo, civitates quatuore.

Porro de dimidia tribu Manasse, Thanach et Gethremmon, cum suburbanis suis, civitates duæ.

And of the half tribe of Manasses, Thanac and Gethremmon, with their suburbs, two cities.

Porro de dimidia tribu Manasse, Thanach et Gethremmone, cum suburbanas suo, civitates duo.

Omnes civitates decem, et suburbana earum, datæ sunt filiis Caath inferioris gradus.

All the cities were ten, with their suburbs, which were given to the children of Caath, of the inferior degree.

Omni civitates deceme, et suburbanas de illas, da es ad filios Caath inferiori gradus.

27

Filiis quoque Gerson Levitici generis dedit de dimidia tribu Manasse confugii civitates, Gaulon in Basan, et Bosram, cum suburbanis suis, civitates duas.

To the children of Gerson also of the race of Levi out of the half tribe of Manasses, Gaulon in Basan, one of the cities of refuge, and Bosra, with their suburbs, two cities.

Ad filios etiam Gersone de Levitici de genere da de dimidia tribu Manasse de confugio civitates, Gaulone in Basan, et Bosra, cum suburbanas suo, civitates duo.

And of the tribe of Issachar, Cesion, and Dabereth,

et Jaramoth, et Engannim, cum suburbanis suis, civitates quatuor.

And Jaramoth, and Engannim, with their suburbs, four cities.

Et Iaramoth, et Enganne, cum suburbanas suo, civitates quatuore.

De tribu autem Aser, Masal et Abdon,

And of the tribe of Aser, Masal and Abdon,

De tribu autem Asro, Masale et Abdone,

31

et Helcath, et Rohob, cum suburbanis suis, civitates quatuor.

And Helcath, and Rohob, with their suburbs, four cities.

Et Helcath, et Rohobe, cum suburbanas suo, civitates quatuore.

De tribu quoque Nephthali civitates confugii, Cedes in Galilæa, et Hammoth Dor, et Carthan, cum suburbanis suis, civitates tres.

Of the tribe also of Nephtali, Cedes in Galilee, one of the cities of refuge: and Hammoth Dor, and Carthan, with their suburbs, three cities.

De tribu etiam Nephthali civitates confugio, Cedes in Galilaea, et Hammoth Dore, et Carthane, cum suburbanas suo, civitates tre.

Omnes urbes familiarum Gerson, tredecim, cum suburbanis suis.

All the cities of the families of Gerson, were thirteen, with their suburbs.

Omni urbes de familias de Gersones, tredecime, cum suburbanas suo.

Filiis autem Merari Levitis inferioris gradus per familias suas data est de tribu Zabulon, Jecnam, et Cartha

And to the children of Merari, Levites of the inferior degree, by their families were given of the tribe of Zabulon, Jecnam and Cartha,

Ad filios autem Meraro Levitis inferiori gradus per familia suo da es de tribu Zabulone, Iecna, et Cartha

et Damna et Naalol, civitates quatuor cum suburbanis suis.

And Damna and Naalol, four cities with their suburbs.

Et Damnas et Naalole, civitates quatuore cum suburbanas suo.

36

De tribu Ruben ultra Jordanem contra Jericho civitates refugii, Bosor in solitudine, Misor et Jaser et Jethson et Mephaath, civitates quatuor cum suburbanis suis.

Of the tribe of Ruben beyond the Jordan over against Jericho, Bosor in the wilderness, one of the cities of refuge, Misor and Jaser and Jethson and Mephaath, four cities with their suburbs.

De tribu Rubene ultra Iordane contra Iericho civitates de refugio, Bosore in solitudine, Misore et Iasro et Iethsone et Mephaath, civitates quatuore cum suburbanas suo.

De tribu Gad civitates confugii, Ramoth in Galaad, et Manaim et Hesebon et Jazer, civitates quatuor cum suburbanis suis.

Of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Galaad, one of the cities of refuge, and Manaim and Hesebon and Jaser, four cities with their suburbs,

De tribu Gado civitates confugio, Ramoth in Galaade, et Manaime et Hesebon et Iazro, civitates quatuore cum suburbanas suo.

Omnes urbes filiorum Merari per familias et cognationes suas, duodecim.

All the cities of the children of Merari by their families and kindreds, were twelve.

Omni urbes de filios Meraro per familia et cognationes suo, duodecime.

Itaque civitates universæ Levitarum in medio possessionis filiorum Israël fuerunt quadraginta octo

So all the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight,

Itaque civitates universa de Levites in medio de possessione de filios Israële es quadraginta octo

40

cum suburbanis suis, singulæ per familias distributæ.

With their suburbs, each distributed by the families.

Cum suburbanas suo, singulo per familia distribue.

41

Deditque Dominus Deus Israëli omnem terram, quam traditurum se patribus eorum juraverat: et possederunt illam, atque habitaverunt in ea.

And the Lord God gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn to give to their fathers: and they possessed it, and dwelt in it.

Et da Domino Deo de Israëlo omni terra, quam trade se ad patres de illos iura: et posside illa, et habita in illa.

Dataque est ab eo pax in omnes per circuitum nationes: nullusque eis hostium resistere ausus est, sed cuncti in eorum ditionem redacti sunt.

And he gave them peace from all nations round about: and none of their enemies durst stand against them, but were brought under their dominion.

Et fer es ab eo pace in omni per circuitu nationes: et nullo ad illos de hostes resiste aude es, sed cuncta in illos ditione redige es.

43

Ne unum quidem verbum, quod illis præstiturum se esse promiserat, irritum fuit, sed rebus expleta sunt omnia.

Not so much as one word, which he had promised to perform unto them, was made void, but all came to pass.

Ne uno quidem verbo, quod ad illos praesta se es promitte, irrito es, sed res exple es omni.
